On our second day in Shikoku we went to Mount Tsurugi. It is 1954.7 meters high (6,413.1 feet for those of us who use the Imperial system). Mount Tsurugi, or Sword Mountain, is the second highest mountain in western Japan. Bright eyed and bushy tailed we checked out the information online before heading out. Everything looked delightful, you take a ski lift to the top for epic views of the surrounding Tsurugi Quasi-National Park. In reality it is a quick ski lift trip to what I would guess is halfway up the mountain. SIGH. With you guessed it.... stairs. The trail up Mt. Tsurugi was the busiest hike we have done so far. At some places we were literally in a single file line up the mountain. But man, those views were worth it. On top of the mountain there are a few shops to get cold drinks and a platform you can relax on while you relax. Before warned, it was a beautiful day but up on top it was windy and cold. After a quick bite, head off to enjoy the Iya Kazurabashi. More on that with my next post!
